Oct 16 - Amy Speace in Concert - 7:30pm - Born in Baltimore and raised in small town Pennsylvania, Speace initially had her sights set on a career as a playwright/actor graduating from Amherst College and toured the prestigious National Shakespeare Company. After moving to New York she had roles in various off Broadway production and independent films, ran her own theater company and taught Shakespeare in the New York City school system. After teaching herself to play guitar, she began setting her poetry to music. Oct 30 - 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off! - Chili gourmets and not-quite-gourmets will once again gather at Sedalia Center on Saturday, October 30, 2010, to do battle with their best chili recipes. Join the fun as companies, organizations, and individuals compete for trophies and bragging rights to the title of Best Chili! The Sedalia Center gratefully acknowledges The Bank of the James as the major sponsor for this event. Tastin' begins at High Noon. Chili teams start cooking on-site beginning in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The 4-person teams typically have lighthearted themes, but are completely serious about their chili recipes. A panel of judges will decide Best Tastin' Chili (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies are awarded) and Best Presentation.
