
Sacrifices & Offerings: Itsy-Bitsy Art and the D-Day Anniversary

The Eighth Annual Itsy-Bitsy Exhibit opens Tuesday, June 4 at The Electric Company Art Gallery, 207 E. Depot St., Bedford. New this year, the theme Sacrifices & Offerings coincides with the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. The exhibit will be open Tuesday – Saturday, 11 to 5, through June. A reception will be held on Second Friday, June 14 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Itsy-Bitsy began as a combined effort of Artists on Depot Studios in The Electric Company and Goose Creek Gallery & Studios. It was held in Bedford Hardware’s Art Upstairs and was advertised as Itsy-Bitsy Art in Bedford’s Original Big Box Store. The exhibit was held there until the closing of Bedford Hardware.
Margaret Sue Turner Wright has painted this 3.5 x 3.5 inch oil portrait tile, of Virginia Hall. Hall was considered the most dangerous spy during WWII. Wright said: “Virginia received the Distinguished Service Cross and was the only woman and civilian awarded in World War II. Though she walked with a limp from her wooden leg, she was never caught!
